Reward Us Openly! Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

The "closet" is the closed place, where we are to get alone with God, where the human spirit waits upon an unseen Presence and learns to recognize Him who is a Spirit, and cultivates His acquaintance, fellowship, and friendship. Prayer is the foundation that forms a relationship with our Heavenly Father who has done so much for us and wants to do so much more.

When we pray unto God in secret, the Bible promises us that He will reward us openly. God rewards us in a variety of ways. First of all, the privilege to pray to Him knowing that He will hear our prayer is a reward in and of itself. Here we have the Great God of the universe, the God of all grace and glory who stops to listen to our prayer! What a wonderful privilege that is.

When we enter into the quiet places with the Lord and we come to Him in prayer thanking Him for all that He is and all that He has done, God is able to speak to our hearts and that allows Him to begin to strengthen and enrich our lives. God will begin to fight our battles for us and He will begin to bless us in ways that we could never begin to imagine.

God is the giver of peace and joy, which form the foundation that real happiness is built on. As God is able to give us this peace and joy, we begin to realize just how blessed we really are. This causes us to look to the Lord even more in thanksgiving and that makes us more determined to walk with Him, which allows Him to bless us even more!

The challenge that life offers is to see just how much God can do in us and with us and through us! AS God blesses us, He makes us a blessing to others and that may well be the greatest blessing of all! Pray to God in secret today so that He can begin to reward you openly tomorrow and every day after that!
